We stayed at the Marriott Waikoloa - we thought we were staying at the Hilton Waikoloa and went as far as got our bags valeted, self-parked our car, and corraled the boys in the lobby while checking in only to find out we were Marriott-bound. Had to undo all the previous effort only to do it again down the street. However, the hotel was nice too as you can see. They had the most extraordinary view of the sunset - took lots of pictures of that. They had several pools and a slide, much to Dallen's delight. The latest thing in pools is the sand pool. Picture a beach shoreline, only it's a pool. Brennen had a blast in that - plus it was only 1-1/2 feet deep and he could move around to his hearts content. Austen was a man of luxury, staying in the "hot pool" for most of the time. He did get out once in a while to push the button to turn on the bubbles. Think of all that money that could have been saved on swimming lessons - he only sat on the steps of the jacuzzi the whole time.

On Friday, we drove to Waimea to get out and about. We initially drove past Waimea to Honokaa to go and eat Malasadas at Tex's Drive Inn. I still think Champion is better. Luckily, Champion is on Oahu. Back to Waimea. Drove around aimlessly but that's what you're supposed to do on vacation because you might come across a gem, right?! And a gem we found! If you go to Waimea...with kids...you must stop by the Waimea Park. It has the largest playground I've ever seen in Hawaii. Slides, swings, monkey bars, musical bells - lots and lots to do. The kids went wild going up and down, through here and there and they loved the tire swing the best. A lady we met there said that the Waimea community paid for the park equipment for the community to enjoy. We should look into that - it truly was a wonderful park - my kids just loved it!

I am sooo glad you had a great time with your family...we love going over there. Waimea park is the park we always go to too. It is nice and cool over there too. My kids can spend hours there if we let them. Paul actually wanted to buy property over there in Waimea. That's like the haule town...lots of people like it over there. We also love Hilton Waikaloa...it's a must stay kind of a place. The kids did the dolphin encounter last time we went...they loved it! Maybe we can meet you guys up there some other time! Welcome back!!
Wow! Sounds fun! I love the sand pools...and so do my kids. If I ever get a pool, I'm makin' mine a sand pool-I think they're great!
And what's up with the parks here on Oahu, right? We seriously need a playground upgrade!
