Super busy summer!

We have been super busy this summer! After we got back from our vacation, we hit the ground running!

During the day, Brennen & Chyler continued with preschool while Dallen & Austen attended art classes at Academy of Arts. When afternoon arrived and it has been a non-stop combination of practices and games all summer long! It's the end of July and I'm pooped!

On top of the boy's schedules, Lad has been coaching 2 PeeWee Little League baseball teams simultaneously as well as helping with Brennen's TeeBall team which makes his schedule crazy as well!! Which, in turn, makes my life extremely busy too!

Dallen has been playing basketball for a Newtown league, thanks to Grandpa & Grandma! He has found a game that he loves and does very well in it. He continues to improve and is a vital part of his team being both a great defender and scorer for his team. He has thoroughly enjoyed his basketball experience this summer and is bummed that today was his last game.

Austen continues to play his sport of "choice?" No choice, Austen. With baseball being the least confrontational sport to choose from and with video games not being an option as exercise for his thumbs, he continues to play baseball. He is 7 now and is playing on one of his father's teams - the Aiea Pirates Black (the other being Pirates Green). He continues to amaze me with his noodle-like form at the plate while always hitting the ball through holes in the infield, making its way to a gap in the outfield...all while Austen trots to first base. Most times, he just makes it safe. My advice to him is to hit the ball as hard as he can so he doesn't have to run as fast. I don't think that's the best advice, but he doesn't seem THAT motivated to run any faster. I've really enjoyed watching him play because he can make plays and he hits the ball consistently well...all while appearing to be more interested in the play-action going on in his head or his nail-biting on the field. That's our Austen!

Brennen is playing TeeBall again - in his second season. He is my most motivated & focused baseball playing son. He does not want to sit out or get out! This season, he has finally figured out the defensive side of baseball. Getting other people out! While his first love is hitting - at which, he continues to excel...he now smiles with glee when he can get a runner out at first. In one of his last games, he got 5 people out. Wow! He is also very cute in his uniform...don't you think??

School starts on Monday - YIPPEEEE!!! I'm too happy about that and I definitely need to tone it down and stop rubbing it in to Dallen.

On a side note, we had the boy's open house at school on Wednesday night. It's a time that we visit their new classrooms, introduce ourselves to the teacher, drop off school supplies and do other necessities (ie. paying for lunch, signing up for extracurricular activities and such). While I brought my camera, my very old brain completely forgot to take pictures of this - hopefully, I'll get a chance a little later.

This year will be Brennen's Kindergarten year. He has been SUPER excited to start going to school with his brothers. He has been talking about it all year long. So, on Open House night we took him to visit his Kindergarten classroom. He has Mrs. Hashimoto (Mrs. H) - Austen's Kindergarten teacher who was so great! He could not stop smiling! Then, we had to visit Austen's 2nd grade class and Dallen's 5th grade class and made our way through the school. While we were visiting with Austen's new teacher, Mrs. Apuna, we noticed that Brennen was nowhere to be found. Lad went to go look for him as I took Dallen to visit his class and teacher, Mrs. Agor. Come to find out that Brennen had made his way back to his Kindergarten class and was hanging out with his teacher. He is a super excited new Kindergarten student! He cannot wait to start and has asked me everyday since if today was the day he would go to his new school. Ahh, to be young again. Dallen says that he'll learn soon enough!
