Baseball is over!

I can't believe it! You should have seen my calendar for awhile there - teeball practice, baseball practice, basketball practice, piano lessons and cub scouts. It was crazy! I felt like a severly underpaid chauffeur who had loads of stinky laundry to do on the side!

Dallen's team the Aiea A's had practice every weekday for the past (almost) month and it's a killer. For him and me! They were prepping for the championships and like they say, all that practice pays off. Yesterday, they won the Minors division championship against the Aiea Twins. Thanks to Coach Derek, Coach Paul and Coach Moniz for taking the time to work with Dallen.

(Isn't he cute??)

They got gigantic trophies which is about 3/4ths as tall as Dallen. It's over and I feel relief but at the same time, I'm really proud of him. Dallen faithfully went to practice everyday with minimal grumbling. He was the youngest on the team and his coach said that he was the most improved player. During the trophy presentation, his coaches said that he came to practice everyday, tried and worked so hard and got better and better. They also said that they hoped that he would continue to play baseball because he had a great future. I guess Dallen told them of his plans to "retire". We shall see!

I think that Dallen has enjoyed his season despite so much time and focus placed on a sport he hadn't enjoyed so much in the past. He told me that he felt good about his playing and felt more confident at the plate and while fielding. I felt that it was life lesson for him that having a good attitude and working hard at something makes a difference in how you feel about yourself. I think his baseball experience with the A's really made his confidence grow. Good job Dallen!

After we got home, the kids did their ritual icing of the yard after I emptied the cooler. I think it's their favorite part of the whole sports experience!

Congratulations, Dallen!
You had a good year!
He's growing from a child to a real "guy." They do grow up so fast. "Icing?!?!" Looks like a fun tradition for your family.

Yeah!!! Know the feeling too well, when the season is over!! Jonas is in Tennis, Riho finishing up with soccer, and Rumi just started soccer...not to mention they are all still in piano, Seina in ukulele, Rumi still in dance and now Kumen is wanting gymnastics bad...what to do about that on?!! We are seriously underpaid!! But that's our job...all for the kids!! Good luck on your end! Glad I can still keep up on the happenings through blog and FB. Although, we should still keep the tradition to go out once a month!
