Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!!!!!

Oh boy! School is here! I love it!! I'm thinking that I should be a little less exuberant about having all 3 (count 'em THREE) boys in school! But, I can't help it! I AM SO SUPER DUPER HAPPY!!

This date will be ingrained in my memory forever...August 3, 2009. One of the best days of my life!!

hehehe...

So, Dallen started school on July 30th much to his chagrin. He could not believe that his summer break was over. He is in the 3rd grade now and his teacher is Mrs. Shirai. I hope that his 3rd grade year will be just as fantastic as his 2nd grade year. I'm sure that he will do well academically as he has in the past but hopefully, he'll also find the personal drive to motivate himself more this year. Moms can only push so hard, right? He refused a first day of school picture ("SO embarrassing Mom!!!") so I hope to catch him at the open house shortly...where other Moms will embarrass their kids too...I'm sure of it!

Let's fast forward to August 3rd!! Yay!!

Since we had 3 kids going to 2 different schools...Lad opted to take Brennen to preschool and I had the task of taking Austen to school.

If you've been following our blog, you know the kind of problems Austen had in preschool earlier this year. So, Lad and I were REALLY nervous about his start in elementary school. We were worried about whether he would throw fits, whether he would listen to the teacher, whether he would comply and transition well, whether he would have friends, and most of all, the toilet!

I'm happy to report that Austen is still so excited about going to "Dallen's school" and has been nothing but enthusiastic about going to school, his classroom, eating in the cafeteria, doing work (his words, "I love homework!"), playing at recess - and I'm relieved to say, not one accident! Oh, he makes his Mommy so proud!

I'm not too thrilled about the class size - 26 kindergartners. Can you imagine? I'm not sure if this situation will be rectified or if his class will be this huge all year? I don't know how his teacher, Mrs. Hashimoto, handles it! One 5-year-old is enough for me! But, she introduced herself to the parents as being a 16-year veteran of Kindergarten. See, there are saints in the world today!

My baby boy Brennen turned 3 in April and has started preschool at Alphabetland. We (rather I) were thrilled that Brennen got into Alphabetland! I love that preschool and the staff there are great! He is in the 3-year-old class with Miss Rowena and Miss Jane.

Lad has been taking him and although he has had a pouty bottom lip with a slight quiver when being dropped off - he hasn't out and out cried. But, last Friday I took him and he had a full on Mommy separation anxiety attack. But, he's my little boy...my only opihi...so the leg clinging and crying for me was sort of expected. I had hoped to be pleasantly surprised because he did so well walking to class, even getting into the room and putting his things away. It was when he realized that I was walking out that the attack started. My poor baby! But, I'm a trooper so I hugged him goodbye, peeled his arms from my leg and walked out and let his teacher handle it. It's what they advised, so I followed their program. His teacher said that he didn't cry for long. Whew!

Brennen has had some issues listening to his teacher with some shades of defiance but has done pretty well in his first week. He LOVES to come home and tell me all about what he ate for the day. He always tells me "I ate cookies". He loves to show me his work and is tickled that he gets to put his work up on the refrigerator...just like his brothers. He even has his own backpack - Spiderman - which he picked out himself. The pack is so big, I get a laugh everytime he has it on.

Anyway, I am one thrilled Mommy! I am totally enjoying my time with Chyler who keeps herself so busy, it's almost like she's not there! She is so LESS needy than her brothers. Miss Independant if there ever was one! I can't believe it! It's been so long just having one at home, I almost don't know what to do with myself. Ah, but 2 o'clock comes around really fast and then they all come home!

The children are growing too fast. Before you know it, they will all be going off to college.
Cherish these moments. Now is the time to totally ENJOY them and the freshness they bring to your life.
Remember, You are their first and BEST teacher! Teach them with love

Cute picture of Brennen leaving for school. It's the mommies that are more nervous about school than the kids themselves. Don't worry mommie, they WILL survive without you.
